Sun comes in off the foothills. A linen sofa, an ivory rug, one small bowl. Vieste sits low in the middle of it, the one round shape in a room of straight lines.
A wide round top. A smaller round base. Nothing else.
Vieste is two plain cylinders, stacked. The top is 31.5 inches across and almost 8 inches deep. It rests on a narrower base, set back underneath, so the top seems to hover a few inches above the floor.
One finish covers it all. The top, the sides and the base wear the same walnut-tone burl veneer finish, swirling grain and small dark eyes.
A thick round top over a narrower round base. The top overhangs the base by about five and a half inches all the way round, and a soft shadow line runs around the base beneath it.

The base is narrower than the top and set back under it. From standing height you see the top and its shadow, and the base almost disappears.
At 14.57 inches high, Vieste sits a little below a typical sofa seat.
Old limestone, a boucle sofa and one lamp. In low light the burl finish turns deep amber.
