The back is almost a rectangle, a little wider at the top, with only the top corners rounded. One panel of woven cane sits inside it, set in a thin inset bead. You can see through it.
The back leans back slightly, and its frame runs down into the rear legs. The seat is a plain upholstered cushion on a slim rail. Four square legs taper to the floor.
A side chair: 33.9 inches high, with a 19-inch seat. No arms and no stretchers between the legs.
