The Sabaudia story

One curve, from arm to arm.

Sabaudia is a counter stool with arms. The back and the arms are drawn as one curve. The top rail runs all the way round. Under it, a band of cane-look weave wraps the back and both sides, and stops at a square block above each front leg.

The seat sits 25.5 inches off the floor. That is counter height. It is the counter-height version of the Cesena dining chair: the same barrel back, on longer legs, with a footrest.

Walnut is warm and dark. Natural Ash is light.

The design

Cane in the middle, wood all round.

The cane sits between two rails, framed top and bottom. It runs round the back and along both arms, with one narrow seam where two lengths of weave meet.

Drawn in one line

The materials

Cane weave, padded seat.

The back is a woven cane-look band with small open holes. The seat is high-density foam under a beige linen-look fabric. The frame is solid rubberwood, finished to show the grain.

The grain varies from stool to stool. That is the wood, not a flaw.

The base

Four legs, one footrest.

Four wood legs carry the stool. The front two rise straight up into the arm blocks.

A D-shaped wooden footrest sits 8 inches off the floor, with a straight rail at the front and a curve behind. The hex bolts that hold it are left in view, in a brass tone.

Sabaudia is a counter stool, and it comes as a set of 2. Order two sets for a four-seat island, three sets for six.

Choose Walnut for warmth or Natural Ash for a lighter kitchen. Both have a beige linen-look seat. For the table, choose Cesena, the dining-chair version of the same design.

A 25.5 inch seat is a counter-height seat (24 to 27 inches). Measure from the floor to the top of your counter before you order. If you plan to push the stools under an overhang, remember that the back stands 33.5 inches high and the arms 27 inches.
