Pale light through sheer linen. White bedding, two pillows and a folded throw. Nemi’s bouclé blocks catch the light, and the low base keeps the room calm.

The Nemi story

Soft outside. Storage inside.

A cushioned headboard. A base built of blocks. Room for the spare bedding underneath.

Nemi is made of soft, rounded blocks of bouclé. Twenty-one on the headboard, in three rows of seven. Two more rows wrap the foot and both sides of the base, so the bed looks as soft from the door as it does from the pillow.

Lift the platform and the base opens. Duvets, winter throws and spare pillows go inside, out of sight.

Cream White keeps it light. Black gives it an outline.

The materials

Bouclé outside, metal and wood inside.

The upholstery is bouclé, a fabric woven with small loops. It feels soft and looks matte, and the loops give each block a gentle texture.

Underneath: an MDF frame, a metal lift platform and engineered wood slats.

Two gas struts lift the slatted platform and hold it open. The storage space sits under the whole mattress.

Up close, every block is a small cushion. The loops of the bouclé keep the surface soft and matte, never shiny.

The storage

Lift the platform, not the mattress.

The slatted platform is hinged at the headboard. Raise the foot end and two gas struts lift it and hold it open.

Underneath, the base is one open storage space, lined in black fabric. Use a 6 to 10-inch mattress; it sits directly on the slats.

In the evening
