Darby in an Eastern Townships farmhouse, low winter sun across the pine floorboards and a wool rug.
A Darby sofa in a brick-walled Halifax loft as the late sun comes in off the harbour.
Window shadows fall across the olive-green weave, and the dark legs keep the outline crisp.
Darby in an Eastern Townships farmhouse, low winter sun across the pine floorboards and a wool rug.
From this side you see the shape: slim square track arms, two loose back cushions and one bench cushion that runs the full 59-inch seat.
Underneath, four tapered legs in dark wood lift the frame off the floor.
Straight track arms frame one long seat cushion, with two loose back cushions above it. Seat and back cushions are both reversible.
The frame is hemlock, alder and plywood, built in Canada, on four slim tapered legs. No buttons, and no skirt.

A muted olive green, with a soft texture that shows up close.
Pine, a muted olive-green woven fabric with a soft, visible texture, covers the arms, the back and the cushions.

Hemlock, alder and plywood, built in Canada and rated commercial grade.
Seat and back cushions lift out and flip over, and their covers come off.
At one end of the sofa, the square track arm runs straight down to a plain base, set on two tapered dark wood legs, one at the front and one at the back.
The seat is 59 inches wide and 25 inches deep, and stands 17.5 inches from the floor.
One cushion of foam, feather and polyester fibre runs the full width, so there is no gap between cushions to sit on.
A book and a stoneware bowl on a low wood coffee table, garden flowers in a jug by the bay window.
A wool throw over the arm, a mug on a walnut side table and a sheepskin on the rug, snowy firs outside.
The muted olive green sits well with warm wood, brass and natural fibres such as jute and wool.
It suits a living room, den or loft, and the upholstered back lets it stand in the middle of a room.
Darby covers 84 by 40 inches of floor (about 213 by 102 cm), and it arrives in a carton of the same width and depth, so check halls, stairs and doorways first.
