Sun on a white-oak floor. Dry hills and the lake beyond the glass. Chioggia sits by the window with a stone table and one cup, and its curved back holds the light.

Chioggia is built from a few plain shapes. A padded band curves around the back and sides at arm height and ends on two flat front legs. A wide plank carries the back. Between the band and the seat there is open air, so light passes through the chair.
Blue, Dark Brown or Olive Green. Walnut legs on all three.
The back is one padded band, six inches tall, that wraps from one front leg round to the other. Below it, the seat is straight at the front and round at the back.

The band floats above the seat. Look through the gap and you see the plank leg.
The front legs are flat boards with rounded edges, finished in walnut.
The cover is a soft velvet with a washed pile. Its colour moves from light to dark across the seat as the light changes.
The front legs are rubberwood in a walnut stain. The back leg is bentwood, shaped to follow the curve.

Up close, the velvet is not one flat colour. The washed pile shows lighter and darker patches where it catches the light.

Turn the chair around and the idea is plain to see. A single wide plank runs from the floor up to the band, with the round seat on either side.
The back is upholstered like the front, so Chioggia can stand in the open and face into the room.
Snow outside, a brass lamp inside. Against the warm limewash, the blue velvet reads cool and calm.
A limestone wall, pine boards and a jute rug. Chioggia brings a cooler colour and a cleaner line to an old room.
Put it where you read: by a window, beside a lamp, or across from the sofa. The back is finished too, so it can face into the room.
Choose Blue for a cool note in a warm room. Dark Brown sits quietly with leather and wood. Olive Green brings the garden in.
Allow 29.5 by 26 inches of floor, plus a little room behind the curved back to pull the chair in and out.
